Pedroia was drafted by the Red Sox in 2004, and made his major league debut in 2006. He became a full-time player in 2007, winning the AL Rookie of the Year award. He was a member of the Red Sox World Series championship teams in 2007 and 2013. He was not on the postseason roster for the Red Sox 2018 championship. Since the retirement of David Ortiz at the end of the 2016 season, Pedroia is the only player from the 2007 World Series team still with the club, and the longest tenured player on the Red Sox' roster. Pedroia remains under contract with the Red Sox through the 2021 season.
